FAQs

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers.

I understand that having a painter in your home for days or even weeks is a big deal, and you probably have quite a few questions before you’re ready to decide. So, I’ve put together this FAQ to answer the most common questions I get from clients.

If you don’t see your question here or want to chat directly, just give me a buzz anytime. I’m always happy to talk painting and help you feel good about getting your space painted.

Do you do free quotes?

For simple jobs that don’t need much prep work, I might be able to give you an estimate over the phone. But for most projects, I prefer to see the space in person.

Visiting your property lets me check the condition of the surfaces, spot any repairs that might be needed, and talk through your ideas and concerns. That way, you get an accurate quote and a clear understanding of what’s involved — with no surprises for either of us down the track.

How long does a house painting job take?

That’s one of the questions I hear most — and the answer is: it depends.
Every home is different. The size of your rooms, the number of colours, how easy it is to access the space, and the condition of your walls and ceilings all play a part.

Here’s a rough idea:
▶ Smaller rooms or quick touch-ups might take a day or two.
▶ Full interiors or large exteriors can take several days up to a couple of weeks.

One thing I hate to do is rush. Good prep work takes time — fixing cracks, sanding, treating, priming, and applying proper coats. That’s how you avoid issues like peeling or flaking later on. I’d rather take my time and do it right — otherwise, I’d probably get an anxiety attack.

What services does Colour Squad provide?

I specialize in residential painting across Sydney, focusing on both interiors and exteriors.
That means I tackle everything from walls, ceilings, and woodwork to your gutters, decks, fences, and more.

Prep is a huge part of what I do — repairing cracks, sanding surfaces, and making sure everything’s ready before anything goes on. I also do pressure washing for most kinds of exterior surfaces — like render, walls, driveways, pathways, and more — whether it’s to freshen up your property or prepare for painting.

I also do painting work suited for rental and sale to help you get your bond back without the hassle, or even boost your property’s value.
If you’re unsure about colours or finishes, I’m happy to guide you through the options and give honest advice — no pushy sales talk, just what’s best for you and your home.

Can I stay at home during the painting process?

In most cases, yes — you can definitely stay at home while I do my thing.
I make every effort to keep the work area clean, tidy, and safe, minimizing any form of disruption.

For larger projects or if strong paint fumes are involved, I’ll discuss the best approach with you to ensure you’re comfortable throughout the process.
Your comfort and peace of mind are important to me, so I adjust my work to fit your schedule and preferences.

What happens if the weather delays the project?

Weather can definitely impact outdoor painting — especially rain, strong winds, or extreme heat. If delays happen, I’ll keep you informed every step of the way and reschedule the work as soon as conditions improve.

My goal is always to deliver a high-standard, long-lasting finish, so I won’t rush the job just to stick to a timeline. Thanks for your patience — good things take time, and it’ll be worth it in the end.

Do I need to move my furniture before painting?

You don’t have to move anything yourself — I’ll take care of protecting and moving furniture as needed.

That said, keep in mind that time equals money. The more prep that’s needed, including moving furniture, the longer the job might take.

If you can help by moving fiddly items or clearing some space beforehand, it can make things quicker and more efficient — which can save you some cost in the end.

Do you offer warranties on your painting work?

Yes — I stand behind the quality of my work. I offer a warranty on all painting jobs to give you peace of mind that the job will last.

If any issues related to workmanship arise within the warranty period, I’ll come back and fix them promptly, no questions asked.
Your satisfaction and trust are very important to me.

What types of paint do you use?

Every paint is different — and so are the prep materials like fillers, sealers, and binders. They stick differently, breathe differently, and behave in their own way.

I use only trusted brands that have proven their worth over time — mainly Haymes and Dulux. I’ve tried many products, but these brands consistently deliver the best durability, finish, and colour retention for Sydney homes.
Sticking to what works means you get a high-quality, long-lasting finish every time.
